Personal Web Space
All Shuswap Internet Junction accounts come with
free non-commercial web space.
This document outlines the Shuwap Internet Junction's
Policies regarding free web space, as well as instructions
on how to create your own web page.
Free Home Page Policies
All Shuswap Internet Junction users are entitled
to set up their own non-commercial
home pages subject to the following conditions
- You may use up to 5 megabytes for storage on our server. Additional
storage will be charged at $2 per megabyte per month. Please
call us and arrange additional storage before you use it,
otherwise our automatic monitoring programs may delete some of
your information.
- No support. Other than the instructions below, we
cannot provide any support for your free web space either by
phone or email.
- Your free web page content must be non-commercial
in nature. What does 'non-commercial' mean? The
final decision is ours, but basically your page cannot promote
a product or service. If you require commercial web space,
please contact us at
webadmin@sunwave.net
- Your free WWW page must not contain any objectionable
or illegal content.
We reserve the exclusive
right to determine if the content is unacceptable.
- We reserve the right to revoke this privilege from any user who
is violating the non-commercial condition or who is
using Personal web space contrary to our
Acceptable Use Policy.
Other than that, you are welcome to experiment with
HTML and get a headstart on the publishing medium of the future.
Remember that anything you place on your pages is being made
available to anyone in the world who has Internet access and URL
for your home pages.
Step by Step Instructions
- Make sure that you know how to use an FTP program to upload (send)
files to a remote computer. For example, on Windows systems you
would use WS_FTP rather than your WWW browser program.
- Using the FTP program, log into (yoursite).users.shuswap.net
using the userid and password provided to you.
- You are now in your own personal home directory on our server.
- Upload any HTML files and or picture files that you are using in your
pages.
- Make sure that the main entry page is in a file named index.htm
Your home page should now be accessible from your WWW browser
by using the URL http://(yoursite).users.shuswap.net where the
(yoursite) portion has been supplied by Shuswap Internet Junction.
